Removal of core of drain in order to seat drain threaded strainer was impossible due to frozen center bolt. The gasket provided was very hard, stiff rubber---not the live, pliable sort of rubber you want in a gasket for a good seal. The waste-drain covers arrived without some of the pieces named in the instructions. Attempting to use this thing ruined our tub pipe kit---it was a lightweight kit, our bad, but if this thing had gone on the way it should have the first time we would not have had a problem. We got a different brand, new tub kit, and it is going in like a charm.When the main part of a kit arrives in pristine packaging but inoperable, and other pieces described in the instructions are missing, that's a quality control issue with the manufacturer. In this bathroom we have oil rubbed bronze items from Moen, Price Pfister, and Delta. All are similar: nearly black with bronze highlights. This drain and overflow cover is much lighter and has a brown/purple tint to it instead of black. Install was easy for this DIY guy; all you need is a screwdriver, drain wrench/tool, plumber's putty. I found a good drain wrench that fits a 3/8" drive ratchet at my local home improvement store for less than $15 and used an extender. It took less than 10 minutes to remove the old drain, do a little cleanup and install this kit.The finish looks good and coordinates well with the brushed nickel finishes you'll find in other brands. The only problem I have? The drain doesn't always pop up enough to release the seal. If you push it fast and immediately pull back, it works fine.
